Match Report :Towy Valley v LLANSTEFFAN
31/01/10
A lovely day up in Llandovery with a playing surface to suit was all these teams needed as a motivation to enjoy their football on Saturday afternoon. Llansteffan, on the back of 4 straight victories, started with their now familiar 4-3-3 formation. Although the width of this team started on the bench with John Jones & Daf Harries stepping down, a more compact 3 of Seb Lewis, Martin Malloy & Rhys Jones dominated the midfield from the offset. Lewis and Malloy in particular were the driving force behind the Seasiders 1st half performance. Powerful running and probing passess from both meant plenty of chances for the front 3 of Yarnton, Keith Davies & Richard Whalley. All went close before Yarnton scored his 2nd in as many games with a great right foot finish after an excellent passing move. The returning Whalley, cup-tied for last weeks win over Carmarthen, was on top form. It was not long before he got in on the act with another left foot finish. His 4th in 3 games since joining the club.
Jon Durbridge kept his place ahead of Nicky Bowen in goal and although not in the game for long periods showed his concentration by pulling off one excellent 2nd half save which came back of the post gratefully into his hands. After a rocky start the back four of Rod Thomas, Matthew Morris-Jones, Captain Jamie Fleig and the excellent Jason Deschoolmeester meant a 2nd succesive clean sheet. The 2nd half didnt produce another goal but will be remembered for some great possession football from Llan. Whalley and Yarnton tired, Jones and Harries were introduced and made an immediate impact. The fresh legs really testing the Towy Valley rear-guard with Jones in particular a threat.
Llan Player/Manager Wayne Price, who dropped himself to the bench could not hide his delight at the teams performance. ” That was probably our best performance as a squad since I came to the club. We totally dominated the game. We decided to keep faith with the formation although we played a more compact game than last week. It gave Martin Malloy and Seb Lewis the freedom of the park with the full backs pushing on. Our preperation was excellent. People are desperate to keep their places and it was a compliment to John Jones and Daf Harries that they were rested today because both have been excellent for me. Peoples attitudes to being on the bench is superb which means they are making an impact when they get on. Thats 5 out of 5 now and there is a good feel around the place. I think by the end of the month we will have a fair idea what divison we will be in next season. Hopefully it wont be this one”
Match report : Caerbryn v LLANSTEFFAN (23/01/10)
After almost 2 months without any football, Llansteffan certainly made up for lost time as the visitors cruised to victory over a shell shocked Caerbryn. Sitting pretty in second place prior to kick off, the home side were confident that there lead over the Seasiders in third would be extended come 4.30 pm.
Llansteffan were determined however to put Caerbryn under pressure and leap frog them in the league table. This showed straight away in Llan’s play as neat passing, aggression and good attacking play saw the visitors completely dominate the first half.
With the defence also looking solid, it was no surprise when Llansteffan took the lead in the 20th minute. Debutand Keith ‘Jubbly’ Davies netting from close range after a strong run from John Jones down the left flank. The away support did not have to wait long for a second as more impressive play from the team in white was finished off with Martin Malloy scoring from close range.
Llansteffan continued to impress, however manager Wayne Price and assistant Gary Owen have again expressed their concern at the emerging problem Llansteffan have at defending set plays. This proved to be the only negative of the first half as due to a cheap free kick being given away, Caerbryn got themselves back into the game. After initially punching well, Nicky Bowen was left stranded as he could do nothing to prevent Caerbryn’s number 10 side footing home into an empty net.
“Not to panic” was the message for the lads at half time. Manager Price will be delighted with his sides fighting abilities demonstrated in the second half. After absorbing 10 minutes of sustained home pressure, Llansteffan broke away to score a deserved 3rd. Keith Davies with his second after a strike from the work machine Rhys ‘Ginge’ Jones deflected his way.
Yet again however, Llansteffan allowed the home side back into the game when they really should have shut up shop. Yet again a chep free kick given away on the edge of the area and yet again the ball finding a way into the net! 3-2 and game on. Or so Caerbryn thought.
This seemed to have annoyed the Llan players and so they responded with two quick goals to put the game to bed – Finally!!
Richard Whalley and Malloy with his second of the game to ensure that 3 very well deserved points were heading west down the A48!!
Llansteffan: N. Bowen, W.Price, M.Jones, J.Fleig (Capt), J.DeSchoolmeighster, J.Jones (D.Harries 75 mins), S. Lewis (W. Jones 61 mins), R. Jones, M. Malloy, R. Whalley, K. Davies (J. Yarnton 80 mins)
Subs Not Used: R. Thomas, J. Durbridge

Match Report: West End UTD v LLANSTEFFAN
Llansteffan went crashing out of the Challenge Cup at the Q/F stage as they suffered theor first defeat in 8 games. Boosted by the signing of Sean Pemberton from Newcastle Emlyn during the week the Seasiders took to the field missing no fewer than 6 players due to bing cup-tied. 16 year old Rory Smith made his 1st team debut in Central Defence and 2nd team captain Steven John was promoted to the starting eleven for the 1st time since the last round of the competition. Danny Short also made his 1st start of the season at left back with Rod Thomas and Jamie Fleig making up the rest of the back 4. Llan started the better with Pemberton the dictator aided by the industrious Martin Malloy. John Jones out wide attacked and delivered crosses with James Yarnton making his 1st start in 3 and Keith Davies looking to feed off.
It was West End who got the first though against the run of play. A corner was defended well by Rory Smith but no-one reacted to the 2nd phase of play and the West End player lashed it home beyond Nicky Bowen. Bowen was beaten again 5 mins later when a West End player, who looked ominously off-side, broke away and lobbed the advancing keeper. 2-0 and that is how it remained at the break. Again it was Llan who started the half the better. James Yarnton, who had one dis-allowed and one hit the bar in the first half, went close with a header. A long ball into the box caught a West End arm. Penalty. Malloy tucked away. 2-1 and game on. Llan spent the rest of the half Camped in the West End half but couldnt find the goal to take the tie into Extra Time. Although going out Manager Wayne Price was upbeat about the performance, ‘ Im happy with the way the players applied themselves today. Cup football is all about enjoying as you have nothing to lose. The amount of changes to the team were bound to affect the way we played and we probably didnt play our best stuff until the 2nd half. I have so many out through Cup-ties and injuries we had to give others a game and i didnt get let down. Rory Smith isnt 17 until April but he played like a veteran. Steven John loves this club and put in a great shift. I thought Sean Pembertons debut just shows us what a massive player he is going to be for this club. He was outstanding today in an un-familiar role. Next week I hope to have Jon Durbridge, Seb Lewis, Jason Deschoolmeester, Matthew Morris-Jones and Richard Whalley at my disposal. Rhys Jones didnt play today and neither did myself. The league game against this team next week will be completley different. I hope it has drawn them in to a false sense of security as our system and team selection will be completley turned upside down next week. I for one cant wait for the game and I know the lads who couldnt be involved today feel the same. Its now simple, win all our remianing games and we get promoted. No more incentive needed.’
Match Report: LLANSTEFFAN v Llan Rads (20/02/10)
Llansteffan recorded their 7th straight victory in all competitions but the scoreline wasnt the plain sailing performance it suggests. Naming an un-changed team for the 1st time Manager Wayne Price decided against starting the returning Matthew Morris-Jones who was named among the subs. Not 2minutes into the game a strong John Jones challenge on the opposing full back resulted in the game being held up for no more than 20mins. An arkward landing resulted in what looked like a serious knee injury. An ambulance came and went and the game finally re-started. With both teams struggling to get going after the re-start the game turned into a scrappy affair. The Rads packed the midfield empolying only a lone striker making chances for the Seasiders hard to come by. However, a prolonged period of pressure saw skipper Jamie Fleig go close with his head from 2 corners. Opposite centre half Price saw a simlar effort just clear the bar. The opener wasnt far away. A short corner from Jones found Price who got the ball away from his marker but not his body. Penalty ! Martin Malloy tucked it home to make it 1-0 at the break of an eventful first half that wont be remembered for the football. The Emphasis at half time was to remain patient and surely more goals would come. The rads were thrown into further disaray with the loss of their keeper through injury. With their only sub already on the Rads were down to 10 men. Full backs Rod Thomas and Jason DeSchoolmeester started to play high up the field. Seb Lewis and Martin Malloy started to dictate the midfield under the protection of Rhys Jones. The 2nd and 3rd goals really brigtened up a dull afternoon of stop start football. Forward balls into the the impressive front duo of Richard Whalley and Keith Davies resulted in two training ground goals one for each player. A great centre from Rod Thomas found Whalley for a great left foot finish. DeSchoolmeester obliged from the left for Davies to nod home. A fourth goal came from sub James Yarnton whos brilliant attitude has to be mentioned. With one eye on goal difference the scoreline if not the performance pleased manager Price, ‘ The scoreline suggests a comfortable day at the office but in truth it was anything but. The stoppages in the 1st half really spoilt the game and both teams struggled to get going. I was glad to get the boys in at half-time. It was awful to play in and I bet even worse to watch. The 2nd half was better, Patience was the key and myself and Bernie Lewis told the lads to keep doing the right things. The 2nd and 3rd goals were pleasing because we had worked on that type of play in training. It was nice to get a 4th and im chuffed for James Yarnton because he is an honest lad who is unlucky to be on the bench. The players had a little bit of a rollicking at full time for not aplying themselves fully the way I expect but that has to be a good thing if thats happening and we are winning. Hopefully we can take some good out of the game and push on in the final six games. We are top of the league and thats where we want to stay.’
Match Report: Llangennech Rsvs v LLANSTEFFAN RSVS (13/02/10)
A crucial win for Llanstteffan reserves away to Llangennech on Saturday saw the Seasiders close the gap on the top two and keep their promotion chances intact.
Match report: LLANSTEFFAN v Llandeilo TOWN (13/02/10)
Perfect conditions for football made for an exciting encounter in this 2nd v 3rd placed game against Llandeilo. Manager Wayne Price made just 2 changes from last weeks win over Towy Valley replacing striker James Yarnton with winger John Jones, an obvious tactical move and bringing himself in at Centre Half to replace Matthew Morris-Jones who had personal problems and was given the weekend off. Setting up in a flexible 4-3-3 formation Llansteffan made home advantage count by going into an early lead. Jones justified his starting place by delivering a quality centre from a corner which caused mayhem in the deilo box. A couple of deflections later the ball had ended up in the net with the history books telling us that it was an own goal. A fantastic start for the Seasiders which pleased the Manager. A 20 minute spell of sustained pressure did not result in an other goal and allowed Llandeilo to get back into the game. Llansteffans previous work-rate eluded them for a 10 minute spell which tested the back four of Thomas, Price, Fleig (Capt) and Deschoolmeester. Keeper Jon Durbridge, chasing a 3rd consecutive clean sheet, had to be on his toes on a number of occasions with one save down low to his left standing out. Possibly the turning point in this game came in the 43rd minute. Seb Lewis, a revelation in midfield since his signing from Inter Carmarthen, challenged for a header. A clash of heads resulted in the Deilo player leaving the field for hospital treatment while Lewis dusted himself down and got on with the game. A free kick not long after a good 25 yards out had Lewis’ name all over it. With curl and bend there was only one place it would end up, top corner. 2-0 at half time, Llansteffan coasting.
The emphasis on the half-time team talk was clearly complacency and work-rate and the boys in White continued where they left off. A long Deschoolmeester throw was met by Whalley, his 5th in 4 games. With Martin Malloy and Rhys Jones adding to an already impressive Lewis Midfield performance more goals were surely to come. Not before a bizzare refereeing decision resulted in a Deilo goal. Rhys Jones was adjudged to have back passed to the keeper and the resulting free kick was handled by Keith Davies, Penalty !! A good finish and 3-1. Game on, or so the green and black stripes thought. The goal and decision only seemed to annoy the Llansteffan players and the final 20 minutes were played in ruthless fashion. Daf Harries on for the impressive John Jones and James Yarnton on for the goal machine Whalley made immediate impacts. Harries helped himself to a goal and Yarnton was instrumental in Rhys Jones getting in on the act. 5-1 and it could of been more. Manager Wayne Price and assistant Bernie Lewis were obviously extremley pleased with the outcome. Price said, ‘ Its starting to sound boring but I really dont care if it continues. My players for the 4th week running were excellent and are giving me everything. We are trying to play a particular way which will make them enjoy their football and im happy to say everyone seems to have a smile on their face at the moment. This is a tough period with 3rd place today and top of the league West End to come here next week. It cant be set up any better. I asked the lads to go get me 4 points from the 2 games. Well thats another 3 in the bag and im hoping we can go one better next Saturday. We made one tactical change with John Jones coming in for Yarnton to have a more solid structure up top with him and Keith Davies playing in and around Whalley. James has scored 2 in 2 and has been excellent but took to being on the bench with a great attitude and made an impact when he came on. Thats what I want. It summed it up for me when Rod Thomas crosses a ball in the 88th minute and the guy who connects with it is Jason Deschoolmeester the opposite full back. Bring on the leaders next week.’
Match Report: Loughor Rvs v LLANSTEFFAN Rvs
6th Feb 2010.
Another bright afternoon saw Llansteffan 2nds face a Loughor side looking to extend their recent impressive home record.
Llansteffan had a few key players missing in Nick Carter, Adam Butler and Gavin Rees but fielded a fairly strong side that saw Christian Rowlands in goal, Richard Wiggins, Steven John and Rory Smith make up a strong back 3, Keil Davies, Adam Morris, Steffan Hughes, Jason Davies and Paul Evans in Midfield while Dan Thomas and Andrew Raistrick in Attack.
The match started brightly with Llansteffan creating the early chances.
The first goal came on 20 mins after a Steven John long throw bounced kindly for striker Dan Thomas who nodded the ball goalwards and despite a frantic attempt from the defender to clear, the ball was judged to have crossed the line taking Thomas into double figures for the season.
The 2nd came 10 mins later. Another Steven John long throw, another header. This time met by the towering Paul Evans who powered home from close range for his 2nd of the season.
Llansteffan added a 3rd just before the interval with Thomas netting his second of the game with a powerful shot into the corner after some good skill by Andrew Raistrick.
The home team started the 2nd half stronger and put some good passes together but the tireless work of Jason Davies, John and Wiggins saw their efforts go to waste.
It was a case of defending the lead for the visitors and they did that with ease.
The only negative to a very positive performance was an injury to Adam Morris, and having used his subs in Watcyn Jones and Nicky Howells, player-manager Steven Hodge was forced to take the field and could have added a 4th goal almost instantly but for an unlucky bounce over the crossbar.
Another good win for the seasiders.
Match Report: Burry Port Rvs v LLANSTEFFAN Rvs
23/01/10
On a Sunny afternoon at Burry Port, Llansteffan 2nds managed by Steve Hodge, finally kickstarted the new year with their first game and win. They hadnt played before this encounter since early December due to the bad weather conditions.
In 3-5-2 formation, Llan started with Christian Rowlands in goal, who has been on form as of late. Richard Wiggins, Steve John and Wotcyn Jones were the heart of the defence, with Adam Butler in holding midfield. Michael Lloyd Davies and Nick Carter centre midfield with Andrew Raistrick and Gavin Rees on the flanks. The forward line consisting of top goalscorer Dan Thomas and the young Kiel Davies.
Llan took an early lead when Thomas was put through and scored with his first touch of the game. Thinking this would be an easy first half, a lack of communication saw Rowlands intercept a pass back for Porth Tywyn to equalise.
Llansteffan quickly took the lead just before the break through Mikey Davies and Gavin Rees found the net. A string of chances missed by Llan meant they only lead by 3-1 at the break.
The second half saw the introduction of Adam Morris for Watcyn Jones, and Paul Evans for Raistrick.Butler moving onto the left wing with Paul Evans taking over in the centre.
Burry Port managed to claw one back to make it 3-2 but Steve John’s monster throw in met Butler’s head to make it 4-2 and Llansteffan were worthy winners.

Match Report: Llan Rads v LLANSTEFFAN 20/03/10)
An emotional day at penagaer fields as Manager Wayne Price took charge of his final game before returning to the USA. He was treated to a convincing win and performance from his players in a repeat result of the home game earlier on in the season. Missing some key players the pack had to be shuffled and an un-familiar back 4 of Rhys Jones, Rory Smith, Jason Deschoolmeester and new signing Jody Thomas. Seb Lewis returned in midfield alongside Martin Malloy and Daf Harries with the familiar front 3 of John Jones, Keith Davies and stand in captain WRichard Whalley.
Llan were in front as early as the 15th minute when John Jones finished superbly after being put through by the impressive Whalley. Keith Davies hit the bar as did Whalley, Malloy went close all before Seb Lewis scored the 2nd. A long hanging corner was only half cleared when it found Lewis who hit a superb volley from 20 yards. 2-0 at half time and the Seasiders hadnt got out of 2nd gear. The next goal after the re-start was always going to be the important one and Llan took less than 10 seconds to score after the re-start. A mistake in the Radicals box allowed Whalley to score his 12th goal in 11 games. James Yarnton was introduced for the veteran Keith Davies and created some decent openings for himself and others. Seb Lewis, who had run the game from the start, scored his 2nd of the day after a fine individual run. A delighted Price, whos cameo sub performance will be remembered for many a year in Llanelli, said’ Things couldnt have gone any better and im proud of every player who has played for me this season. I can return to the USA with the club having 1 foot in Division 1. There are 3 games to go and I think 1 win will be enough. The lads have a great chance to get that result next Saturday at home to Penafan, they deserve it. Nicky Bowen hasnt had a save to make today. Rhys Jones plays wherever hes told and gets on with the job. Rory Smith can play Welsh League if he keeps his feet on the ground and keeps improving. Jody Thomas has been brought in for the final 4 games on a short term deal and his performance today showed his quality. Deschoolmeester and Seb Lewis owed me a performance and I had it off them 10 fold, Lewis in particular. It really is a squad effort down here. Nobody has moaned about being on the bench. People understand my reasons and give me everything when they get on. When Daf Harries decides to turn up like he did today hes different class. Richard Whalley is too good for this level and John Jones is a different player this year. With experienced players like Keith Davies and myself to chip in we got a good mix. We didnt break a sweat today and made our football enjoyable. These lads have won 8 out of their last 9 league games and are almost there. Its a cracking little club, the chairman, secreatary, commitee members and players really deserve Division 1 football next season’
Match Report: LLANSTEFFAN v Caerbryn 13/03/10
Llansteffan might just have put Caerbryns season to bed down by the seaside on Saturday afternoon. It was a must win game for both teams for different reasons. For Llan it was to go 9 points clear of their 3rd place rivals and for Bryn to keep in the promotion hunt. After a back to back cup and league defeat to West End, Llan got their promotion charge well and truly back on track. Changes were made and the supporters were treated with a dominant performance. There were re-calls for Nicky Bowen in goal, Rory Smith and Danny Short at full-back and John Jones on the left as manager Wayne Price rung the changes after 2 defeats. With Jamie Fleig and Matthew Morris-Jones re-uniting at centre half Price and Pemberton formed a new midfield partnership alongside Rhys Jones. Richard Whalley and Keith Davies remained up front.
Llan started the game at a frantic pace with the ball hardly leaving the Caerbryn half. A period of sustained pressure saw the seasiders hit the bar and post no less than 3 times before opening the scoring. John Jones and Pemberton twice so effots hit the woodwork before Whalley opened the scoring. A strong run from Price found John Jones whos inch perfect cross found Whalley who only had to tap in. 1-0. The killer goal came on the stroke of half time when the Bryn defence backed off from Pemberton who cooly sloted home from 20 yards giving the keeper no chance. 2-0 half time and coasting. More of the same was the shout at half time and Whalley duly obliged by heading a third after Llan really should have had a penalty for hand ball. A deligthted Manager said,’After 2 defeats on the bounce this was a test of character and the lads didnt fail to deliver. We had to make some late changes and the boys who came in have given themselves a great chance of playing for the rest of the season. Nicky Bowen kept a clean sheet, Rory Smith is making it difficult to leave him out although we have tried not to over use him but this really was a team effort. We dominated from start to finish and im not being harsh in saying it could have been 6 or 7. Theres 4 games to go and we can see the finishing line. We are still top and want to remain there as long as possible. A win at Llan Rads next week will really put pressure on other teams to win their games.’
Match Report: LLANSTEFFAN v West End UTD
West End gained a vital victory in their quest for the division 2 title as they performed a vital smash and grab victory away to Llansteffan. Both teams fielded their strongest teams as players returned from injury and suspension and it was West End who opened the scoring direct from a corner. A right footed inswinger eluded everyone in the penalty area to nestle in the top far corner. The goal, slightly against the run of play, brought a good reaction from the Seasiders who started a pro-longed period of pressure which resulted in the equaliser. A superb passing move involving Martin Malloy, Seb Lewis and Keith Davies found Sean Pemberton, making his home debut, clean through. After an away defender got a foot to the ball the keeper illegally handled the ball resulting in an in-direct free kick just 5 yards from goal. Richard Whalley took the set piece which found the slightest of deflections on its way in to hand Llan a deserved goal. Llan should really of doubled their lead before half time with Whalley & Pemberton both going close. Missed chances that would cost them dear later in the game. 1-1 half time.
The 2nd half started much the same as the 1st ended with Llan applying early pressure. Full backs Deschoolmeester and Morris-Jones using their long throws to good effect with the West End rear guard and keeper equal to the task. Fleig and Price at the back were in no apparent danger but always had to be aware of Alex Days presence up top. The turning point of this game was in the 70th minute. A wayward West End shot was adjuged to have been put behind when Keeper John Durbridge insisted that he hadnt touched the ball. Corner given, identical goal the outcome. Llan, not learning from their mistakes, failed to clear another Alex Day in-swinger for the forward to tap in from a yard out. Despite playing all the football and creating many chances the Seasiders were now chasing the game at 2-1 down. Time went on, subs appeared in the form of John Jones, unlucky to lose his place, for Deschoolmeester. Daf Harries appeared for Rhys Jones and James Yarnton for Morris-Jones as Llan utilised all their attacking options. Surely a goal would come. Pemberton thought he had when an inch perfect Price cross found his head only to see his header skim the top of the bar. This wasnt to be Llans day. West End broke away to score their 3rd and Llan replied in the last kick of the game with a great John Jones finish but it was too little too late. Manager Price said, ‘ It was a great advert for the league. 1st v 2nd. Plenty of drama. Im not dissapointed with the way we played as we could of been out of sight at half time. But you have to take your chances and full credit to West End they dug in and made it difficult. I thought their keeper was superb. They probably felt if they could get to half time they would have half a chance of nicking a result and thats exactly what they did. Classic smash and grab so hats off to them. They will go on and win this league now and good luck to them. What we have to make sure is that we finish in 2nd place behind them to make sure we play them again next season. Our inability to defend set pieces especailly corners has cost us the game today. Im not happy cause we have worked on it in training. The culprits were told after the game and they know they need to improve. We have to dust ourselves down and next weeks home game against Caerbryn cant come soon enough for me. They dropped points again today so the pressure is on them to come to us and get a result. We have to be equal and then better that challenge. Its set up nicely.’
Match Report:LLANSTEFFAN rvs V Drefach rvs
Llansteffan Make History Double
Llansteffan reserves re-wrote the history books this weekend with an astonguising game against Drefach.
Without 5 regular key players for the side with Steven John and Rory Smith who had been called up to the first team due to a majority of their players being cup tied and Adam Butler, Jason Davies and Kiel Davies out injured, the seasiders had to make a few changes.
Dafydd Harries, Richard Whalley and Matthew Morris-Jones stepping in.
Llan had beaten Drefach 3-2 earlier in the season and were hoping to capitalise on their 7 game unbeaten run to close the gap on top spot.
The game started of at a furious pace with some good passing leading to top goalscorer Dan Thomas to score his 1 2 th of the season in the opening minutes with his 1st touch of the ball. Right Back Richard Wiggins then added a second and Llan were 2-0 up after just 10 minutes. Goals from Daf Harries, Adam Morris, Thomas again striking twice to claim his hatrick, two coming from the penalty spot, and Whalley adding another 4 put the seasiders 10-0 up at half time! Captain for the day Morris-Jones kept the team in line with some good advice at half time a s Llan looked to reduce the 1 4 goal difference with top of the league Wellfield.
The second half started where the 1st had left off. Some solid performances in the back from A.Morris, Morris-Jones and Wiggins who were steady throughout and keeper Christian Rowlands who was rarely tested kept the Drefach strikers at bay with Nick Carter playing well in midfield allowing Paul Evans, Harries and wingers Steffan Hughes and Andrew Raistrick to play some good crosses into the box. Raistrick himself had a few chances to add to the game 1 of which saw him cut into the box and being brought down by Drefachs centre half, Thomas again stepping up to finish a hatrick of penalties making it 4 goals for the striker taking his season tally to 15.
Just a few moments later makeshift centre back A.Morris crossed the ball into the box only for Drefach’s defender to divert into his own net, and moments later a back pass to the keeper who miskicked it put Llan 13-0 up with almost half an hour to go.
Jamie Evans was introduced for Thomas with 20 mins remaining as Llan looked to add yet more goals.
Whalley added yet another 3 goals to make it 7 goals and a club record for most goals scored by one player in a match. Wingers Nicky Howells and Watcyn Jones were introduced late on for Raistrick and Hughes, and P.Evans who had a few chances well saved early on went on to get his hatrick, ending a perfect game at 19-0, another club record.
Manager Steve Hodge said ” I’m absolutely delighted with the game, everyone played 100% for 90 minutes, the lads were outstanding, and organised. We were hoping to close the gap at the top and push for promotion and today we showed we mean business”

West End UTD v LLANSTEFFAN (17/04/10)
A fantastic season ended on a sour note for the Seasiders as a 2-0 defeat by champions West End brings the curtain down on 2009-10. Llansteffan started brightly were finding the home sides long ball game difficult to deal with. The back four of Rhys Jones, Jamie Fleig, Danny Shortt, and Jason Deschoolmeister seemed on edge on a dry pitch in the Llanelli sunshine.
The first half ended goaless without real incident.
The breakthrough came for the home side courtey of a free kick from their number 9. A curling effort in to the top corner deserved to take the lead in any game. This proved to be a huge blow to Llan as they set about guarenteeing their own promotion party.
Jody Thomas and Keith Davies, playing up front for Llan, were working hard to create an opening. Martin Malloi and John Hones were working extremely hard on the flanks to provide such chances but nothing came of it as a solid back four held firm for the home side.
The nail was delivered directly into the coffin on the hour mark. A dreadful mistake by Fleig, failing to clear his lines when given the opportunity, presented West End to strike at goal. With Durbridge already off his line having previously come to block the strike, Danny Shortt was the unlucky man as he instinctively handled on the line. The imminent sending off and second goal killed off the game. 2-0 to the home side.
With 15 minutes remaining Llansteffan were reduced to 9 men as the excellent Seb Lewis was sent from the field after what seemed a strong 50-50 challenge.
A disappointing day indeed, however an excellent season for the Seasiders. Division One here we come.
LLANSTEFFAN v Abergwili (3/4/10)
This eagerly awaited derby game did not dissapoint as Llansteffan and Abergwili produced a fantastic game, especially in the second half which was watched by a decent crowd, most of whom had come to support the home side in their final home game of the season.
Knowing that 3 points would more or less guarentee First Division football next season, the Seasiders seemed tense in the opening stages. The usual flowing passing was not evident as Abergwili scrapped for every loose ball and put their bodies on the line for the cause.
After 15 minutes and a sustained period of pressure, the deadlock was broken as Richard Whalley swivelled and shot low into the bottom corner. Still, this did not seem to settle the Llansteffan players down and as the half wore on Abergwili sensed their opportunity. After failing to clear the ball, Llansteffan were punished as Steve Plumb equalised for Gwili.
The visitors nearly took the lead minutes later. Jon Durbridge prodcing a quality reaction save to deny Kerri Price.
1-1 half time.
Llansteffan emerged from their huddle a totally refreshed side in the second half. Seb Lewis and Sean Pemberton were dominating the midfield as Daf Harries and Martin Malloi started to get at the visiting full backs. On a weaving run into the penalty box in the 55th minute, Keith Davies was brought down by Steven Carmody. From the resulting spot kick, malloi made it 2-1 to the home side.
The home support drew a huge sigh of relief as did the players. Taking the lead for the second time, Llansteffan now started playing with more confidence and soon got their deserved third through Richard Whally. Rhys Jones providing an excellent cross from a free kick for the striker to power home his second with his head. Sporting a new haircut, Whally enjoyed the pre planned celebration with Pemberton.
Another sound performence from a back four of Jason Deschoolmeister, Jamie Fleig (Capt), Danny Shortt and Rhys Jones enabled the home side to continue to push forward and search for more goals. The fourth goal arrived from the impressive Malloi. Cutting in from the left flank, and slotting home from a tight angle.
In the closing stages, Abergwili were awarded their own penalty as the referee saw a shirt pull on Rowlands. Aled Davies stepped up but fired over the bar.

Match Report: LLANSTEFFAN v Penyfan (27/03/10)
Llansteffan produced one of their most commanding performances on Saturday by hammering visiting Penyfan 8-0. Having to make several changes to the side from last week, assistant manager Bernie Lewis re shuffled his pack to cope with the physical presence of Penyfan. Starting brightly, The Seasiders took the lead within 15 minutes through the ever impressive Richard Whalley. This seemed to settle any nerves and if there were any left they were eased further when Shaun Pemberton netted a quality second from a tight angle.
The returning James Yarnton, impressing with his work rate, missed a guilt edged chance on the half hour mark to make the scoreline even more comftable. However, just before referee Anthony Powell blew for the interval, Yarnton made amends by heading home. 3-0 at half-time.
The second half started much the same way. The midfield of Seb Lewis, Martin Maloi, Daf Harries and Pemberton were dominant and causing Penyfan all sorts of problems. On the hour, the home side deservedly notched their fourth. Richard Whally hammering home for his second. Not to be out done, Yarnton netted his second and Llansteffan’s fifth with a looping header.
With both strikers now on hat-tricks, it seemed only a matter of time before Llan got more goals. A solid defence of Rory Smith, Jamie Fleig (Capt), Danny Shortt and Jason Deschoolmeester was the platform for an attacking display which had Lewis beaming from ear to ear. Yarnton and then Whally deservedly got their hat-tricks, both scoring after being put through one on one with the Penyfan goal keeper. The impressive Harries got in on the act in the last 5 minutes, sneacking in at the far post.
Llansteffan now welcome Abergwili next Sat for their last home game of the season (2.30 k.o.). Tea and Coffee will be on sale at the ground for a large crowd is expected. A BBQ will also be on hand, weather permitting!
